The village of Lewdown sits equa distance between the cities of Exeter to the east of the county and Plymouth to the south of the county - both being approximately 30 miles away. It is also central to the towns of Okehampton which lies to the east, Launceston which lies to the west and Tavistock which lies to the south. There is easy access to the main A30 which can take you either east to Exeter for the M5 Motorway or west for the main route into Cornwall.
Lewdown Grouped Parish Council is made up of four Parish Councils, Coryton, Lewtrenchard, Marystow and Thrushelton. Together they cover an area which is predominately agriculture. With a thriving Young Farmers Group, it also offers a wide variety of leisure activities, such as the Granite Way which is part of the National Cycle Route: the Forgotten Gardens: Baring Gould Trail: and of course easy access to Dartmoor, plus much much more. It also has a thriving C of E Primary School.
The community spirit is very strong, with many groups, associations and recreations that welcome new, young and mature people into their fold.
If you would like to help to make a change for the better and for the community, come to a council meeting, and see what can be done.
